Our primary role is to enable smooth air travel to and from the region, by maintaining and developing our aviation assets.
As a public space, we are also a reflection of the region we serve. Creating an environment that supports everyone’s journey, from local to visitor, business traveller to family farewell, we are a welcoming environment for all. As New Zealand’s third busiest regional airport, we play a key role in connecting the region’s people and produce to national and international markets.
Two commercial airlines operate at the airport; Air New Zealand and Sunair.
We are home to two private aviation businesses, Hawke’s Bay Air Ambulance, and a general aviation community consisting of aviation businesses, recreational users, and the Napier Aeroclub.
The airport’s ownership comprises Napier City Council (26%), Hastings District Council (24%), and the Crown (50%). It is governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of two council shareholder appointed directors and two Crown appointed directors.
Our values set the foundation for our success.
